The Community of the
Good Shepherd began as a small prayer group with 14
members. We had the 1st Life in the Spirit Seminar
after 8 months, With the outpouring of the Holy Spirit,
the group grew to 100 – 150 members
One of the mainstays of this prayer group is Intercession.
Every Thursday morning there was intercessory prayer
from 5 am – 7 am. During one such session, the
group founding member and leader, Bro. Romeo Fernando,
had a vision of a place filled up with more than 1000
people singing and praising God.

In a month and a half, there were prayer meetings
in the hall of St. Thomas Baptista college, Vasai,
India. Soon, this place was full. the faithful had
to be accommodated in the verandas and other areas
of the hall.
The main thrust of this group
was also Evangelization. There would be outreaches
in different parishes, starting with a Friday healing
service, followed by a Life in the Spirit Seminar.
The members would set up prayer groups in the different
churches across Vasai and support them till they could
manage on their own.
On 13th Feb 1994, the group
invited Vic and Eli Gutteris from The Sword of the
Spirit: Christ the King Association, based in the
Philippians to have a look at the workings of the
group so that we could start a Community here in Vasai.
Following this, Bro. Romeo Fernando, visited the Philippians
to experience life in a Community there.
The Community of the
Good Shepherd was established on 10th April 1994 with
250 members meeting together every Sunday to give
glory to the Lord.
